A lot of business owner I talked to have mixed feelings about Facebook. I call it Facebook fatigue can you relate? In this video I am going to tell you the things you need to stop doing and the things you need to start doing this week, let’s go. Hi this is Antoine DuPont with Katapult Marketing where we help business owners just like you grow their business. Before we start please subscribe to the channel and make sure to click the little bell so you can be notified when there is a new video coming out I get this all the time a business owner comes to me and they need help with their marketing so I do my thing I look at three things. I look at their website, I look at their social media, and I look to see if they have any videos out there either on youtube or on Facebook. And when it comes to Facebook here’s what I see way too often post after post after post day after day after day just flat out boring post. What do I mean by boring post they have very little likes almost no comments and no shares in other words nobody really cares. Here is the deal if all or most of your post have no engagement you’re better off stop why because you are sending a signal to Facebook’s algorithm that your stuff is boring and the more boring it is the less likely Facebook is going to show it to anyone see Facebook isn’t a business of providing interesting content so if it’s sees your stuff as being boring it’s going to show it even less and it’s a vicious cycle because the more boring the less they
show it and then you keep on putting more boring so you’re basically
telling Facebook I post boring stuff don’t show it to anyone.
So sometimes when I say that to business owner tell me Antoine why? Why because this is where our collective attention is and if this is where our collective attention is then I want some of that attention so the better question instead of being why better should be how do I make it work for me? What you need to understand about Facebook is that people as in you and me go to Facebook with no intent to buy we go to Facebook to chill check out pictures of our friends on vacation check on videos and occasionally get into some political argument with Uncle Bubba in other words Facebook is the opposite of Google we go to Google with a very strong intent to buy. I’m going to Google because I need a lawn service or I need a dentist as very strong intent nobody goes on Facebook looking for a lawn service or dentists or any kind of other services right Facebook is a brand awareness tool if you want to use it for your business this is where you get exposure to a lot of people knowing about your business but in a helpful way not as a sales tool here’s what you need to stop doing number one stop publishing articles you found on the Internet. Nobody cares I don’t care you
don’t even read your own articles.
Number two organic Reach is dead what I mean by that is your post on your Facebook page will hardly reach anyone the numbers we’re looking at right now or basically one to three percent reach which means that if you have a hundred followers only one or three people is going to see it that’s not really good, so if you want to reach a large audience or targeted audience you’re gonna have to pay.
So now let’s talk about what you should be doing on your Facebook page number one what you need to do is ask question and when people respond you need to engage with them you need to say thank you or you need to respond to whatever they were saying but engage Facebook and the core is an engagement platform. Facebook came right out in earlier this year in 2018 and actually said that engagement is a super priority for them they want comments. The more comments they have on the post the better it is.
The second thing you should do is share behind the scenes stuff show the human side of your business the ups and downs the birthday party, a new client, someone got a baby show us the human side of your business. Show us what’s going on in the back that maybe we’re not seeing in the forefront too many of us are trying to put this “everything is perfect here we have no problem.” Stop pretending that everything is always great. It’s not we know that just show your human side you know show what’s going on your business. And if you have a breakdown share that it’s actually interesting. That’s what we want to see.
Third thing you should be doing on your Facebook page is create videos overall this is what we want to see we love videos we can’t get enough of them. When we produce videos for a client we’re seeing three to five times engagement sometimes ten times more engagement with videos and I’m not talking about sales videos because again remember there is no intent to buy people don’t go to Facebook to look for products you don’t put sales videos there are two kinds of videos that we can’t get enough on. Let me tell you what they are the number one is the entertaining videos entertaining videos or like the funny animals or the epic fails or people singing and music and music in the street all that stuff we love that and the second types of videos that we’d love to see is educational videos videos what we help people understand something where where we’re teaching them something.
How-to videos now between you and me I’m containing videos are a little bit difficult to pull off unless you’re a professional comedian there is a huge difference between having people laughing with you and people laughing at you and it’s a very thin line so you better be really careful if you want to go funny that it may be funny to you but if people are laughing at you that’s not good so the best videos for you to produce on Facebook or educational video teach people tell them what they need to know. The bottom line share your knowledge and see your engagement skyrocket now let’s recap here are the three things you should be doing on your Facebook page.
Number one ask questions engage with people. Number two share behind- the-scenes stuff be human show your human side. Number three create videos especially the how-to videos now if you got value out of this video please like it don’t forget to subscribe and see you next time.
Okay so if you’re thinking I got a good website but for some reason, it’s not converting right it’s not giving me enough leads, then this video is for you.
Below is a transcript of the above video where I want to tell you all the things you can do this week to improve the conversion on your website and get more leads.
Alright so tip number one never ever ever use a carousel in the header of your homepage. So why is it such a bad idea to use a carousel well because you and I have zero patience and let’s be honest have you ever gone to a website and clicked on all the carousel look at all the pictures on all the texts I sure haven’t in all the data in the stats that we have available to us it shows that 80 percent of all people never look past the first slide. So in other words you’re spending an enormous amount of time coming up with five six sometimes I’ve seen 10 slides on the home page and nobody’s gonna watch it don’t do it one single image with a nice title. The call-to-action is really all you need you don’t have to bother with all those images and the carousel no body is gonna watch it anyway.
Number two
Ask your visitor to interact with your website so how can you do it on your website. Well you could have a forum ask a quote or download a white paper or calculate the price on a product or service so ask people to interact with your website not just read and watch stuff but ask them to do something.
Tip Number three have clear and precise call-to-action I can tell you the number of websites I go to they have a button like learn more or contact us this is not clear and precise it’s very broad it’s not really appealing what do I mean by being a clear and concise call to action. So for example if on your website you want people to call you and schedule a consultation then the call to action should be called today for a consultation that is clear and precise people know exactly what they’re supposed to do and exactly where they’re going to get out of that call to action and if the way to interact with you is by getting a quote then you should have a button that says ask a quote actually.
Let’s make that button a little bit better. Let’s make it get a quote see that is a lot more direct that’s a lot more precise. You’re going to get a quote and if you want to make that even better you’re going to put your button as get your quote now it implies that is going to be there for not just anybody else’s quote but their quote and if you want to make that even better better better is get your quote today now. It’s clear it’s precise they know exactly what they’re going to get and what they should be doing and tip number four less is more here’s the deal nobody and I mean nobody reads the text on your website look at your own behavior when you go to a website do you read every single paragraph on the website do you go into your bout page and then read all the things you don’t nobody does and try to use bullets as much as possible. See people want the cliff-notes about what they’re going to get what your service is about and one of the best way and the most effective way to have bullets is with a little green check mark for some reason we have seen them being a lot more effective than just the regular bullet. So use green check mark bullets and a lot less text.
And the fifth and last tip for today too through the conversion on your website make sure you have your call to action in multiple formats multiple ways all over your website see you may have a very long homepage and people may decide to take action early on but they may actually decide that halfway through or all the way at the end having only one call to action is not a good idea have it multiple time on multiple places in different format so you can make sure that people are going to take action when they are ready to there’s multiple ways that someone may want to engage with you and you need to provide them all of that information on the home page.
So they can pick the one that works for them if you implement those five easy tips this week or this month I can guarantee you that it will improve the conversion on your website and you’ll get more leads ok so this does it for today.
